Donut Prints

These Wayne Thiebaud donut prints are easy and so much fun!  A pool noodle cut into small sections make the perfect stamp for this project, inspired by Art Ed blogger Mini Matisse.

Second graders stamp their pool noodles and let the paint dry before decorating them with oil pastels!

Step 1:  Introduction and Printmaking

Before the lesson begins, introduce your students to Wayne Thiebaud and his fun paintings of delicious treats!

Students use sections of a pool noodle to stamp different shades of browns, tans, and peaches onto their construction paper.

Step 2:  Decorating!

Once the paint is dry, decorating can begin!  We used oil pastels, but crayons and colored pencils could work as well.

Yum!
